Sunggyu Saves 2015 with “Kontrol” ; Hyunseung Stays Swaggy

I should really give both Sunggyu and Hyunseung their own posts but I can’t be bothered to at this point. #lazy

Over the last few months I became a fan of Beast and Infinite, more so than I was when I did my Top 10 Boy Groups post last year. I’d say both have moved into my top 5, since they have solid discographies overall. Yet, I wasn’t looking forward to either solo release.

Sunggyu’s voice is honestly, quite grating on my ears and I didn’t care for his last solo album. His tone is not my favorite, and I have a hard time differentiating Sunggyu and L in Infinite songs. Hyunseung also has a similar tone, however it’s less whiney overall – and I would have preferred a Troublemaker comeback instead of a solo.

Yet, I of course checked both out, and while I was essentially placated with Hyunseung’s – though glad he didn’t push the swag envelope more – I’m very thrilled to say Sunggyu’s impressed me a lot, and has now taken the spot of my Favorite Song of 2015.

My Favorite BEAST Songs

So I know you I-Fans have been sleeping on BEAST ever since they released “Fiction” back in 2011. Granted, I haven’t been perfect about stanning them either and only really started to take note of them outside of Hyunseung/TroubleMaker when they released “Shadow” in 2013. But it wasn’t until “Good Luck” last year that turned me into a full fledged STAN. Last year I ranked BEAST as number 9 on my Top Boy Groups, however this is now a lie and they’ve easily moved up to number 3 – meaning I need to redo that list, especially as now I’ve listened to their entire (Korean) discography and have enjoyed a majority of it. In actuality, I may even like a higher percentile of BEAST’s discography than Super Junior’s at this point, but let’s not get too crazy here.

Why 45? Because I feel like it. Because 50 is overdone. Because there were more than 20 good songs this year. Because I’m including non-titles unlike a certain music chart.

Apparently I Can’t Go Away, Or I Miss Everything

Basically every time I need or have to take a break from the Internet, everything important happens. Let’s be real, Greece was miserable for me. I got hurt all the time (scrapes, bug bites, twisted ankle, etc), and came back with a sunburn. I barely could sleep. There was little wi-fi, but with what I could manage to do, I noticed I’ve been missing super important K-Pop news. I’m gonna recap here, just because I have a lot of thoughts.

My Top 10 Boy Groups

So in trying to figure out how to integrate a bit of myself into the blog, so maybe my readers can see where my thoughts and opinions come from, I’m going to do a quick list of both my Top 10 Boy and Girl Groups. I actually prefer girl groups overall, but it’s going to be a lot easier for me to rank the boy groups since I don’t listen to as many, and not even half of them are as flawless as girl groups. Please note that these are not necessary the ‘best’ boy groups, but the boy groups I most enjoy. If I’ve seen a group live, I’m gonna bold their name.
